The reception staff will arrange transport for the young people to get to their accommodation. They will be welcomed and accompanied to their housing. On arrival, the young people will provide a detailed list of their belongings which will be documented.

When they arrive at the accommodation, young people will be introduced to their support staff and will be given an orientation of their place of residence (including how to operate domestic appliances and how the heating system works) and expectations will be given and explained. Orientation to the house also includes security systems, emergency exits, toilets, bathrooms, and cooking facilities, as well as a brief introduction to local facilities.

They will also be provided with an information pack to support the orientation which includes information on complaints, lawyers and emergency contact details for the placing Local Authority. The key worker will be responsible for informing the young people that they will need to apply to insurance companies for insurance for their personal belongings while they are living in the residence.
